Guitar Method Books  -
The Art of Rhythm Guitar  -
I love this book for students who have struggled to understand Rhythm and Strumming Patterns. This is a great book for self- teaching, it's really well outlined, specific and step-by-step. It's also a great book for prioritized chord knowledge.  It sets you up with the most used chords first and gets more and more difficult as you go.

Fingerpicking Pattern Encyclopedia -
This is the best book I've found for learning isolated fingerpicking patterns and drilling different methods.  It's step-by-step, comprehensive and easy to understand. I recommend working with a teacher on your right hand position, just to avoid bad habits that can cause problems

Monster Scales and Modes -
This book is a great source for studying the Scale Patterns that make it possible to understand the entire neck of your guitar and work toward soloing.  If you're new to Scale Patterns, I suggest using this book with an instructor as it's a reference book more than a step-by-step guide to scales and soloing.

Ukulele + Accessories  -
For first time players I love this ukulele from Amazon. It has all of the accessories you need to get started and the price is great!
